Basement Renos cont'd

We have been working on our basement now for the last month.... it is slowly coming along.  We still have the office in the basement to do, all the baseboards and trim and all the finishing accesories.  But at least the basement is usable again.......

Starting to paint....

Tiling

Chad showng off his mad tiling skills so far....

We got this far... and ended up being one tile short!! The tile rep was generous enough to give me one more piece to finish it off, so we didn't have to buy another box.

More painting...

 Finished!

And this is what the office, living room and kitchen looked like so we could get the new carpet installed.

The Real Ring

It has been a few weeks, but I have finally have some time to catch up on my blogging....... I have my reall ring now........

Basement Renos

We started some renovation in our basement this weekend.  We were thankful enough to have Norm Fahselt (Chad's dad) come and help us out!  We got a good start but still have lots to finish up.  And when I say we... I really mean Chad and Norm.  I was more like a pilon, as Chad would put it, than help.  I offered to help many times; I finally did some mudding today and it turns out mudding is my calling..... Chad was quit impressed with my skills!!!

 Spare Basement Bedroom Closet Before
This closet was so narrow it barely fit a clothes hanger in it.

Making it bigger and putting in a sliding door.
They were swearing at me all day, cuz the pocket door was difficult to install.

Neil helped out for a while.....

Norm reading the instructions for the pocket door... took almost all day for the one closet!

Hopefully I will be able to have the 'After' pics up and we will be done in a few weeks from now..... hopefully!!!

The Prototype Ring

This is the prototype ring.  The actual ring is being sized and made right now, so Spence has prototypes to lend you so you aren't without.  I should have the real one sometime this week!!!!! It will look very similiar to this one..... but a larger diamond in the center:)

The Proposal

He knelt down and asked "Scrappy and I have something to ask you."
She said "What?!"
He pulled out a ring from his pocket.....
She cried.....
He asked "Will you Marry Me?"
I said "YES!"

A couple weeks ago I was in Phoenix for a conference.  Chad had mentioned on the phone that he wanted to maybe go to Banff for a day trip the next Saturday.  We would take Scrappy out for a hike and then do the Gondola ride, the Hot Springs and then go for some drinks and dinner.  So the next Friday had rolled around and I still wasn't sure if we were even going out to Banff or not the next day, cuz Chad was just acting all nonchalant about going.  I had really just wanted to stay home that weekend and clean the house and get some laundry done (ya I know...don't judge! ha).  So we finally decided that we would head out the next morning.

Saturday morning we headed out to Johnston Cayon and took Scrappy up to the high falls.  It was around -5 out in mountains and I had worn my Uggs.... bad plan!!!  Uggs have no grip so it was like Chad was taking a child (Scrappy - because he had to carry him some of the way when he got to cold) and an old lady (Me - because he had to help me down every little hill cuz it was icy).

After, we went into Banff and had some lunch at the Rose & Crown.  Chad had ordered the mac and cheese and only ate like 6 pieces of mac..... I should have started to clue in here but I didn't.  He told me later that he was nervous all day and that's why he couldn't eat any dinner.

We then headed up towards the Gonolda ride.  As we were passing the Rimrock Hotel, Chad said pull in here quick.  I really didn't even know where we were.  I asked him why here.  He said that it was a little surprise of his, and that he had got us a room for the night.  I was in shock... not only is it one of the nicest hotels in Banff, but he got us a view room, with gorgeous mountain views out in two differnt directions!!!  As we were standing and enjoying the view thats when he said......"Scrappy and I have something to ask you."  I looked over at Scrappy thinking he might part of this big plan, but he was just laying there chomping on a soggy bone..."What?" That is when he pulled the ring out of his pocket... I instantly started crying, and of course said YES when he asked me to marry him.  To add to his surprise weekend he had booked us a couples massage, pedicure and manicure!!!

Scrappy is out after the hike!

I had no clue about any of it!!! We didn't even have clothes packed because Chad didn't want to give me any hints.  I did happen to throw in a toothbrush and some make-up to freshen up for dinner after the hot springs.  Chad had planned everything while I was away in Phoenix the week before.  He told me that he was going to originally do it while we were on our hike, but there weren't any 'good' spots to do it and it was really busy on the trail on Saturday.  Good thing though cuz I was not doing so good on the hike.... I was panting and out of breath... haha.

We went out later that night and celebrated with some drinks and shots with our good friends GW and Danelle.

Sunday morning we did finally end up going up the Gonolda and to the hot springs.  When we got home on Sunday night we called families to share with them the good news!!!

The Rimrock is the hotel on the bottom right.
One of the views from our room.
Scrappy is enjoying the view on Sunday am.
